Located along New Hampshire's picturesque 18-mile coastline, Foss Beach in Rye offers visitors a tranquil escape from the bustling crowds often found at more popular beaches. This rocky stretch of shoreline has a rich history dating back to the early 17th century when European settlers first arrived in the area.

In the 1630s, William Berry and other founding families began to settle the Sandy Beach area, which included what is now known as Foss Beach. This settlement, along with nearby newly settled land, became known as Sandy Beach, a neighborhood that would later be incorporated into the surrounding towns.

Foss Beach is located off Ocean Blvd (aka Route 1A) ~.8 mile from Pirates Cove Beach / Wallis Road Beach / Wallis Sands Beach and ~1.4 miles south of Wallis Sands State Park. Parking is along Ocean Blvd and the beach is rocky. Dogs on a leash are allowed in season, the Sat from Memorial Day weekend through the weekend after Labor Day weekend, but not permitted from 9 am to 7 pm Sun - Fri and 9 am to 9 pm on Sat. Off season dogs are permitted anytime and can run off leash if vocal commands are adhered to.

A few years back Rye enacted a very steep pet poop penalty for those not cleaning up after their pets. It is now considered a class B misdemeanor and a conviction carries a fine of up to $1,000 so please ALWAYS pick up your dog’s poop so all dogs may continue to enjoy the beach. No lifeguards or restroom.

Alcohol, firearms and fires are not permitted on Foss Beach.
